eight years

eight years ago this month i wrote my first post for this little blog of mine.

reece and oak

while it wasn’t my first blog post ever, it was the first one that led to another, then another, and then a move to pretty consistent blogging.

me and lorelai

i was pregnant with lorelai and reece was 20-months old. i had officially been a stay at home mom for a year, after going back to work for a bit and making the decision that i did not want my children to go to daycare…even if it meant giving up a job i absolutely loved.

reece and oak

i’m so thankful that i am able to be here for my kids. they have both been sick with a nasty cold the last few weeks, and it is such a blessing to be able to not have to think twice about having them stay home with me.

reece and odyssey

there are sacrifices that are made for me to stay home and there are things i miss out on when they stay home with me, but i wouldn’t change it. i wouldn’t change the memories that are being made and the life we are living.

me, reece and lorelai (in my belly)

i am so thankful that i decided to write things down here in this space…so much of it would just be forgotten if i didn’t have the words to read and remind me…

“He says (and waves) hello and goodbye to everybody at Safeway, Target, Whole Foods, or wherever we may be. He is perplexed when he is pushed by another child while at OMSI. He loves his three dogs and two cats more than anything in the world. He gives lots of hugs and kisses. It melts my heart when I am sitting on the floor and he comes up and gives me a great big hug (and pats me on the back). He has a heart of gold.”

closer to 3 and 5

I used to have a newborn and a toddler.

Then, I had a toddler and a preschooler.

In less than 2 weeks I will have a preschooler and a kindergartner.

I remember thinking that 2 and 4 was soooo far away.

And, here we are.

Closer to 3 and 5 than we are to 2 and 4.

I want to soak it all in.

Remember every little thing they do.

Capture every smile and, even, every tantrum.

Because it’ll be gone before I know it.

I remember how hard those newborn and toddler days were.

I feel terrible for all of the nasty texts and messages that I sent to Ryan when he was traveling to Seattle every week to support our family.

I also feel so thankful that I was there to be with my children.

Because too soon, they will not be with me everyday.

But, as of today, I have a toddler and a preschooler.

And, I am going to enjoy every second of it.

home is…being a stay-at-home-mom. everyday.

happy, happy…

SITS day to me!

Blogging Resources for Women

What is a SITS day, you ask?

Well, here is the low down…

So, to make a long story short, I am the Featured Blogger for today.

I’ve got to admit, I’m a little nervous…

I really never thought *my* SITS day would come.

I just thought I would get involved to read other blogs and learn some things.

And, here it is.

Yay, me!

I have butterflies in my belly…

I started blogging as an outlet when I became a stay at home mom to my little guy in 2008.

I made the hardest decision in my life (and the best) to leave a job I loved and stay at home with him full-time when he was 9 months old (until that time I had worked part-time from home or bringing him to the office with me…yeah, I had an awesome boss).

I was starving to still be connected to the world of interior design.

So, I started a blog.

Then, I started another blog to keep family updated on our adventures in the Pacific Northwest.

Eventually, I decided to merge the two as I found that there was beginning to be some overlap.

Now, I write about the adventures of our family of four (we had our second…a little girl…in 2009), my projects, crafts, and anything else I feel like writing about.

I started blogging for myself, then eventually for my kids, and now I find it fun when I inspire others with what I write here.

In the end, I write about what makes our home a home because {of course} home is…what you make it!

Thanks for visiting me today.

Still have butterflies…

I hope you will take some time to look around and let me know what you think!

You can also find me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram (homeisablog), and Pinterest.

home is…sharing my blog with the SITS community.

3 years…happy blogiversary to me

It’s been 3 years since I started blogging.

When I started, it was mainly to write about interior design and green living as I had just decided to stay at home full-time with the little guy and left a job/profession/career that I LOVE.

It was hard to deal with the fact that I would no longer call myself an interior designer.

I was wrong.

I will always be an interior designer.

Just like I will, thanks to the little guy and baby girl, always be a mom.

My blogging has evolved.

I once had 3 blogs.

Now I just have one and I think I will keep it that way.

Happy blogiversary to me!

Here is a flashback to one of my very first posts.
