Seriously.

Although, all things considered, I used to make 2-3 trips to Target a week.

I haven’t been to Target in weeks.

But, I have been to Value Village and Goodwill multiple times in the last few weeks,

Some days I spend some money.

And, believe it or not, there are some days when I walk out with nothing.

But, I never spend as much as I do at Target.

Think if all the money I am saving!

Actually, I have found a few great “junior” games for the kids…Scrabble, Boggle, Monopoly…all for under $3 each.

I also found an air hockey game for the little guy…and we can set it up on any table.

And, I found a children’s guitar. My mom visits next week and it needs it strings switched out, etc. but the little guy LOVES it!

I have some more thrifting finds to share.

I have also been crafting and decorating around our house.

Inspired by this…

I decided to do this…

in our playroom.

I am not handy with a saw and I don’t think we even have a table saw. So, I just glued a 12″ x 12″ canvas to the back of each game board and hung them up on the wall.

Originally, I used our more current game boards.

Then, after thrifting, I found some “vintage” game boards from the 80’s that I liked better.

So, I took the newer game boards off the canvases and put some thrifted ones back on.

I got the canvases on sale at Michaels…7 canvases for $20…so that’s less than $3 a piece.

The Chutes and Ladders, Candy Land and Life games were all found at Goodwill for $1.99 each.

We had the Scrabble and Monopoly games on hand.

So, for about $20, I added some colorful and playful art to our playroom!

{thrifting} a new adventure

I’ve done my share of treasure hunting and antiquing, but thrifting is a new adventure.

I went last Saturday with the kids.

{these game pieces remind me of baby girl and the little guy}

And, again, this morning while we waited for it to warm up.

Here is what we found…

Not sure what I will do with these, but I picked them up anyway.

I have no idea who Edward L. Lawson is, but he crossed the Arctic Circle before I was born. I thought this was intriguing.

I have big plans for these embroidery hoops.

These guys are already working.

Storing art supplies for the kids.

These beauties are the MAIN reason that I took my first trip to Goodwill last Saturday. I found the white one today and the others on Saturday.

The little guy found this and I LOVE it! Obviously, handmade.

These games will go to good use, too. We have both of them already, but I love the look of these “vintage” ones.

I love the red and white theme here…great for the backyard movie night I would like to do this summer!

Last June, at the Farm Chicks Show, I contemplated over croquet mallets which were $4 a piece. I didn’t get them, but this made up for it…the whole set for $7.
