Right now I am listening to my kids play together in the playroom while I cook dinner.
It’s one of, if not the best, sound I have ever heard.
Today was a big day.
I took the little guy to school just like any other Wednesday this year.
I also took baby girl to school.
I left the school after drop off without any kiddos.
It was a bittersweet feeling.
They are growing up.
2-1/2 hours of freedom.
Completely trusting who they are in the hands of.
It was a wonderful feeling.
They are confident, independent, smart, growing children.
And, I have been the #1 influence to help them become that way.
I asked the little guy, by being an example, to show baby girl how to go into her class, get involved with the teachers or other kids, and not cry for mommy.
He reassured her that Mommy would just leave to “go home” and then come back to pick them up together.
He was awesome.
He is such a good big brother.
He did just what I asked him to do (with a little help from his wonderful teacher that he has had the last two years).
Baby girl was a bit hesitant, but once her teacher grabbed her and I went out the door she stopped whining.
They both painted me pictures in class today.
Those are ones that I will save forever.
home is…growing up.
Thank you for sharing your feelings and the story of this BIG day… hope you felt proud of yourself as well as those two little leprechauns! ILY
It’s these moments, more than big vacations or gifts, that leave the most enduring emotional memories.
Is L going to the same school R goes to? I am trying to decide what to do with Morgan in the fall and really want to put her in something, but nothing too major (something like a “2s” class). We can chat more about it when I see you on Tuesday. 🙂
This project is just lovely! I wish I had a playroom of my own so I could decorate it like this!
xxx,
Lily
