{summer in snapshots} week three

I am participating in the {Starfish} blog Summer in Snapshots again this week.

We spent most of week three getting prepared for a visit from Meme and Topher that included a trip to the Oregon Coast to celebrate the 4th of July and the little guy’s birthday. We left for Bella Beach soon after Meme and Topher arrived from Colorado on Friday and were at Bella Beach through Tuesday. I am going to do a separate post about our Oregon Coast adventure, so I included shots from our week prior to Friday.

Between packing and errands, we went to the pool, played baseball in the backyard, had a bit of mommy time, made up our own games, checked the forecast, made the playhouse patriotic, ate dinner outside, and went berry picking.

I think we even crossed a couple of things off our summer list!

home is…making the most of the summer.

the blahs

I’ve got to be honest.

Today I have a major case of the blahs.

It’s a gorgeous day outside.

The sun is shining.

The sky is blue.

There is a slight breeze.

We should be outside.

I can’t motivate.

It’s just the blahs.

You know, the feeling you get after a much anticipated event is over.

My parents came out for a visit.

We spent 4 nights at the Oregon Coast.

We celebrated the 4th of July.

We celebrated the little guys 4th birthday.

My parents left last night.

Ryan got up at 4 am to fly to Chicago.

And, the kids and I are left alone.

I don’t know when we will see my parents again.

I don’t know when we will go on a “relaxing” vacation again.

And all of those thoughts just make me feel…blah.

I know if I motivate to get outside I will feel better, but I just can’t get moving.

So, I just thought I would let you all know how I feel.

The little guy just suggested that we have a picnic lunch outside…he’s full of good ideas.

I’m off to put some real clothes on and get back to reality.

Also, check back later for my link up for Summer in Snapshots…

home is…sometimes having a case of the blahs.

{gallery wall} take one

Our walls have been bare for almost 4 years in this house.

I put something up for a short time and then find that I am not happy with it.

As you may have read, when I get frustrated I move furniture, but hanging art on walls just makes me frustrated. It’s a vicious cycle.

Hanging artwork seems permanent to me…which means I can’t move furniture around.

Now that our furniture is finally placed where I am happy with it (for now) I have wanted to hang some artwork on the walls. Ideas have floated around in my head from photos I have seen on other blogs and Pinterest. Nothing really forced me to put any holes in the wall, though.

Recently, we have been talking about getting the walls in our house painted. I would like to make holes in the walls pre-paint so that the painter can patch any mistakes and our walls with be nice and clean.

Then it all started with this…

We had this photo taken over a year ago and I finally ordered a wrapped canvas with a coupon I got from Sharing Spree.

I was thrilled when I received it and decided I had better put it up on the wall!

So, one afternoon, I just started hanging my black frames. Some already have photos in them, some need updated photos, and some just need photos!

This is a tall wall in our entryway. Below it is a bench that I have had since I was a little girl. This is where the kids keep their shoes, etc. It faces our playroom, which also has artwork with black frames including a large bulletin board which displays the kids artwork, Christmas cards, or other fun things depending on the time of the year.

Of course, after I got everything up on the wall I found about five more frames to add, and  have Ryan’s Father’s Day gift to hang up on the wall.

The good thing is that there are more walls or more room on this wall!

The other good news is that I have started to put holes in the walls. Now I just need to continue with all the original artwork we have stored in our attic and some other prints that I would like to get framed.

Wish me luck!

home is…making progress on wall at a time.

{summer in snapshots} week two

Linking up on The {Starfish} Blog today…

Monday, June 20th: lazy day

Baby girl was proud of herself for stealthily stealing all of the chocolate chips out of her brothers oatmeal!

Tuesday, June 21st: 1st day at the pool

Wednesday, June 22nd: tryon creek state natural area

Thursday, June 23rd:  bubbles in the backyard

Friday, June 24th: tigard festival of balloons

The little guy and I had an early morning date at the Tigard Festival of Balloons balloon launch. We left the house at 5:30 while baby girl and Ryan were sound asleep. We walked down to Cook Park with our hot chocolate and coffee and saw this…

Later in the day the little guy, baby girl and I went back down to the park to the carnival to ride some rides and play some games!

Saturday, June 25th:  tigard festival of balloons

We’ve been going to the balloon festival the last four summers since we moved into this house. This year was the best weather we have had yet.

Saturday morning was beautiful!

The sun was shining and burning off the fog down near the river. We spent some extra time down at the park after the balloons launched just soaking up the beautiful Pacific Northwest morning.

Sunday, June 26th:  walk to the bridge

On the other side of the park where the balloon festival takes place there is a natural area and a pedestrian bridge over the Tualatin River. This is where Ryan runs and swims the dogs and where we sometime just go to throw rocks in the river and have a nice family outing.

We crossed a few things off our summer list this week and are excited to cross off a few more next week. Stay tuned…

home is…a fun 1st full week of summer.

{nana and bops visit} day 5 and digital photography questions

This was Nana & Bops last full day in Oregon and the day we had to leave the beach.

Of course, it was finally beautiful and sunny!

We reluctantly left the beach to pack up the cars and head back to Portland.

We did, however, make a stop at Brewer’s on the Bay on our way home.

I am happy to finally have these posts up. It takes a long time to write a post with photos, etc. I spent hours while at my parents house in March writing my blog posts and uploading the photos. I am so thankful to be using Picasa again to create these photo collages! I take photos everyday. When we are on vacation or on an adventure I take lots of photos. I get overwhelmed by them and delay writing my posts because of that.

Do any of you have tips for cataloging photos? I love digital photography because you can just delete photos if you don’t want them, but I usually wait until they are all uploaded on my computer and them sometimes I never get around to it.

If you have any tips or tricks, please share!
