growing up

Right now I am listening to my kids play together in the playroom while I cook dinner.

It’s one of, if not the best, sound I have ever heard.

Today was a big day.

I took the little guy to school just like any other Wednesday this year.

I also took baby girl to school.

I left the school after drop off without any kiddos.

It was a bittersweet feeling.

They are growing up.

2-1/2 hours of freedom.

Completely trusting who they are in the hands of.

It was a wonderful feeling.

They are confident, independent, smart, growing children.

And, I have been the #1 influence to help them become that way.

I asked the little guy, by being an example, to show baby girl how to go into her class, get involved with the teachers or other kids, and not cry for mommy.

He reassured her that Mommy would just leave to “go home” and then come back to pick them up together.

He was awesome.

He is such a good big brother.

He did just what I asked him to do (with a little help from his wonderful teacher that he has had the last two years).

Baby girl was a bit hesitant, but once her teacher grabbed her and I went out the door she stopped whining.

They both painted me pictures in class today.

Those are ones that I will save forever.

home is…growing up.

normal tuesday

woke up this morning.

made pancakes.

puttered around while drinking my coffee (thanks, Ryan, for making it).

thought about working out…i really need to get on a schedule.

decided it was a good day to vacuum under the sofa.

scary.

i do it every couple of months, but should probably do it more frequently.

how often do you move furniture to vacuum under it?!

then, i moved on to washing windows.

it’s been 4 years.

after that, i finally moved the puffs from the christmas tree up to baby girls roomThey were stored in bags in her closet, then re puffed and stored on the wine bar in the “dining room”)…re-use.

photos to come…

then, i got a kick to finish hanging up the art in her room since we moved her to a big girl bed.

it’s coming along.

photos to come…

i also hung up a new chalkboard.

old, but new to us last summer…just figured out that i could take the chalk tray off and hang it vertically.

so happy.

photos to come…

what were the kids doing?!

playing on the iPad, watching shows, playing with toys, sleeping.

how was your tuesday?!

home is…normal tuesday around here.

These photos are a little late…

We had a great time at our Friday playgroup last Friday and I didn’t make the time to get the photos posted.

Then we had an fantastic weekend here in the Pacific Northwest, so we played outside as much as we could.

And, after the kids went to bed I was exhausted.

Exhausted.

That’s the norm, though.

And, if I don’t take the time to rest, or if I stay up too late, I get sick.

It’s a bummer, but it’s how I am.

So, today, we are just hanging out.

Resting.

So, we can play later this week when it is supposed to be in the 60’s!

home is…exhausting fun.

photos from m{i} phone

The last 4 Fridays I have downloaded photos from my iPhone and posted them here on my blog. All the photos that I post can also be seen on my Instagram feed…I am @homeisablog. (find out more about Instagram here)

I like the idea of having the week captured in glimpses through my iPhone. I use it for most of my snapshot taking during the day…it is almost always in my pocket.

I am also participating in a photo a day challenge on Instagram, so some of the photos you see may be kind of random. You can read more about the challenge here. If you’re in Instagram, join in! If you’re not on Instagram, get on Instagram, and join in!

I hope you are enjoying the photos.

Here are some from the last week…

life is good, but random today…

So, I’ve got some random today.

First, I hope to have the {colton} and {cadence} dolls made before the giveaway is over.

I know it would be nice to SEE what you might get, but I kind of like the element of surprise, too.

You can get and idea of what they *may* look like here.

Maybe it will just be the fabrics…

Second, I am so inspired by Meg.

I never wrote about her first craft weekend, but I know I emailed the link to a few friends and family. I am now on her waiting list.

She hosted her second craft weekend last weekend.

More than anything, I would love to “host” a craft weekend of my own! Who wants to come out to the Oregon Coast and stay at a fabulous home on Bella Beach?

Seriously?!

Let me know if you are interested…maybe we can make something happen!

Third, I’ve been making these for days.

Not sure what to do with them…decoration…Valentines gifts for preschool teachers…giveaway?!

Fourth, please check out another favorite blogger and what she has to say about raising a child with Down’s Syndrome.

I could not get the video to embed correctly, so please click on the link or visit her Facebook page or website.

I just think that what she has to say is really, really important.

And, lastly, life is good.

some random and a winner

I have been up before 5 am the last 4 mornings.

On Friday, the little guy complained that his ear hurt, so off to urgent care we went. He has an ear infection. His first.

On Saturday, baby girl started coughing.

On Sunday, baby girl woke up at 4:30 am with a coughing fit.

On Monday, baby girl woke up a little after 4 am with a coughing fit.

On Tuesday, baby girl woke up at 4:19 am with a coughing fit.

Today, baby girl woke up at 4:42 am with a coughing fit.

We get a snack, snuggle a bit, then the little guy comes downstairs (this morning at 5:20 am), we eat some breakfast, then another breakfast, then a snack.

Baby girl hasn’t lost her appetite.

Yesterday, we were able to do a lot of crafts. It was fun.

The little guy took a nap. He never does that. I think the early mornings are catching up to him.

I know they are catching up to me.

He had a bit of cabin fever yesterday afternoon, so we took a drive to get gas, and stopped in at Target to get a treat at the dollar bins.

I didn’t even stay up to watch Parenthood last night! I DVR’d it, so hopefully I can watch it after Modern Family tonight.

I can’t workout when the kids are sick since they can’t go to the childcare at the club. That’s a bummer.

Well, enough random.

On to the winner…

Thank you all for the comments and giveaway entries!

I hope you will all enjoy following my blog via e-mail or Facebook.
