I love it here in the Pacific Northwest.
Sure, winters are wet and grey, but it makes spring that much more welcome once it gets here.
It’s here. For now.
{at least it was on Wednesday when I wrote this post}
I know we will still have our share of rain until June, but I don’t have to be worried about late April (or even May) snow like in Colorado. And, I am not celebrating the first week of spring with a snowstorm like our family in New York.
I saw my first hummingbird as I was washing dishes and looking out my kitchen window Wednesday night. When we return from our trip to Colorado I will put our hummingbird feeders out so we can watch them until October!
We’ve played in the mud when the rain takes a break.
Remembered some of our rain soaked and neglected toys.
Played leapfrog…
…and “dogboy”.
Taken our first spring swings.
Enjoyed the early blooms.
Watched the clouds pass above the trees.
And, put our feet up in the sun.
By the time I am finished writing this post the rain will be falling again. {and, it is}
home is…soaking up the sun.
YOU are up early today! Hope you are feeling better… the kids look like they are having a wonderful time outside… bet the sun helped you too!
The sun in NY is melting the snow slowly… sticking to the cold ground in the 26-degree temps (that will be today’s high if it gets there) but melting on the driveway… hoping the cold and snow don’t hurt the crocuses and daffodils and tulips trying to push through the cold earth… but then they, like we, are used to it!
Good morning, Kathy!
I actually wrote that post on Wednesday and scheduled it for Friday. That’s one of the secrets of blogging! I was asleep in my warm bed when it posted at 6 am.
26 for a high does not sound fun! I’m done with winter!

The kids are developing a love of nature an outdoors early. With the family outdoor traditions, especially on the “westside,” they’re going to fit right in.
Yes. They love to be outside! And, I would much rather be outside with them!
The rain is what makes everything so green up here you know?
It may rain a lot here during the year, but when it’s nice….it’s really, really nice.
You know, we really don’t get more rain than other parts of the country….it just comes down slow and steady and over a long time.
It’s kind of a dry rain at least.
Look…there’s a rainbow.
Everybody knows that October can be one of our better months.
Everybody knows that May can be one of our better months.
Everybody knows that June can be one of our better months.
Once August comes around, you’ll wish we had some of this rain.
Everybody knows that September can be one of our better months.
At least it’s not freezing cold like other places this time of year.
At least it’s not blazing hot like other places this time of year.
At least it’s not that windy today.
At least the wind is making it kind of a dry rain.
It’s liquid sunshine.
Wow…the sun sure makes everything look different doesn’t it? Or at least it did awhile ago.
Did you feel rain just now?
Gosh…the sun is out and it’s raining at the same time.
Look…there’s another rainbow. Whoa…a double rainbow. How pretty. Could you turn your wipers on for a minute?
If it wasn’t for all the rain, it wouldn’t be so nice up here.
It wouldn’t be so nice up here if it wasn’t for all the rain.
Well, we certainly need this rain to keep the lakes and river levels up.
Monday Forecast: Rain today turning to showers later in the week with a possible chance for sun breaks this weekend.
Weekend Forecast: Showers today turning to rain later in the weekend with a possible chance for sun breaks perhaps early next week.
7 Day Forecast: Heavy rain turning to showers through the work week as the jetstream pattern continues over our area from clear out across the Pacific way over here about 7,000 miles away and also, a heavy swirling swath of precipitation looming over the Gulf of Alaska that’s begun circling it’s way down…. On the bright side, that pattern could possibly shift and give us a few sun breaks perhaps by the weekend ….before the next storm front moves into our area. So take advantage of those sun breaks while you can.
Thank goodness March is finally here and the rainy season should finally be ending.
April showers bring May showers.
Thank goodness April is here and the rainy season should finally be ending.
Thank goodness May is finally here and the rainy season should finally be ending.
I’ll be glad when June is finally here and the rainy season finally ends.
Can you believe how much rain we’ve had this June?
Thank goodness it’s summer and the rain should finally be ending.
I’ll be glad when July is finally here and the rain goes away for the rest of the summer.
Can you believe it’s July 4th and it’s still raining?
Wait til August…you’ll wish we had some of this rain.
Well, everybody knows that October can be one of our better months.
OK….whatever
