Yesterday’s post was hard for me. I got butterflies in my belly when I posted it. And, believe it or not, I am still scared that some of those “mean girls” from high school will read it and post mean comments on my blog. I am also worried what you all would think of me if you read them! Seriously?! Ugh!
The good news is that this is MY blog, so I can write what I want and delete “mean girl” comments if I wish.
Moving on.
So, on a lighter note…no pun intended…
I think new lighting can make a big difference in a room.
Our master bedroom is in need of a makeover. Seriously people, we sleep in what we call the “duck blind”. I have no idea what the people who lived here before us were trying to do with this wall finish, but it is horrendous. Of course, the only rooms we have painted in the whole house in the almost three years we have lived here are the kids rooms, but I digress.
I would love to add this to the ceiling…

If the mean girls posted a mean response, instead of feeling hurt you could feel pity because it would really just show how pathetic and ignorant they still are. Or even better, you could befriend them again, invite them over for a sleepover and when they are sleeping you could stick their hands in warm water and draw sharpie moustaches on their faces 🙂
Oh, and lighting. I do think it can make a room. When we built this house we had to pick out lighting for the whole house all at once and I got totally overwhelmed so near the end I just didn’t care and picked out whatever was in front of me. So, in our family room (big room) we have these two lights that are round with a tip on the center. So, when we moved in and the room was empty, we were all lying on the floor and someone commented that it looked like our ceiling had boobs (can I say that on a blog). 13 years later I still think of those lights as my boob lights. Maybe I should replace them???
I think lighting makes a HUGE difference in a room! I love looking at lighting and thinking where can that go in my house or my “future dream house” 🙂 I love the chandelier above…it is awesome and I think would be super cool in a bedroom!
I think lighting can be beautiful and functional and at the same time add to the ambiance of a space… I’m sure your fixture fits into a plan you have for that room and agree that you will want to do something with those walls first!
I’d like to think that those “mean girls” have matured some since high school and would realize what a mistake it was. As a “reformed bully” myself, I know that I still feel guilty over some of the mean things I did to people. This is also what makes me (and us) focused on doing everything we can to have our children not behave like this, and to stick up for those kids that need some help. Of course, as with me as a young kid, ultimately it will be up to them to decide how they want to act, we can’t watch over their shoulders at every waking moment. I am very proud of you for being so honest in your blog about a variety of topics. As Jennifer’s blog inspired you, yours may inspire someone else. I think that by being open about our imperfections (that ALL of us humans have) it allows us to begin healing. Yes, some of these things, that seem so minor or insignificant when you look at the acts themselves, can have a major impact on our self esteem and self confidence. But to acknowledge them, I think, allows us to begin working on them. I love you.

I do think different lights are interesting and can add a lot to a room. I’ve always thought that your parents have some really nice lights and lamps in their house.
I think the chandelier reminds me of a spider (and you know how brave I am around them :)), maybe the mechanical spider in that Will Smith western movie? What was the name of that? Of course that being said, you have always done a great job with designing/decorating where we live, so after discussing it it is always your decision. Although I do like being able to poke fun at you about the one “learning experience” at our home in Denver.
So YOU didn’t like the blue trim.
I’m never going to live that down.
And, I will never paint a trim anything other than white again.
Well, I will never live that down…painting trim anything other than white might just happen again!
